HEDEX IS ON REPEAT

Kettama, Playboi Carti, Ovlov: Drum & Bass heavyweight Hedex shares the tunes that inspire him and his new MHITR: The Album.

Hedex Is On Repeat

Hedex is one of the significant producers in modern Drum & Bass. He’s got a mouthwatering collaboration list – that includes the likes of Chase & Status, ArrDee, Tion Wayne and more – and has built up a solid reputation on the live circuit. Now, he’s just released his long-awaited debut album, MHITR: The Album, a combination of the electronic music style’s classic tendencies whilst putting a fresh and inventive spin on the sound.

Below, he tells Wonderland about the tracks that inspired the work in our latest On Repeat.

Majistrate & MC Eksman @ Westfest 2012

No words needed

Ovlov – “The Well”

This song is so raw, I love it, it transports me back in time, proper nostalgic, it makes me feel like im back in my mate Liam’s bedroom when we was 10 years old playing Brian Lara Cricket for hours.

Kettama – “It Gets Better (Forever Mix)”

Are you kidding me? Banger

Enter Shikari – “OK Time For Plan B”

I think this could be the best ES song ever, also still feels mental to work with Rou – what is life?

EssDeeKid & Fimiguerro – “5am”

The beat, mix, everything is absolute fire, EssDee feels really authentic in all his tracks, Rebel is a great project.

Thursday – “At This Velocity”

Playboi Carti X Da$h X Maxo Kream – “FETTI”

Masterpiece.

The Legion of Doom – “Lolitas Medicine”

TLOD made me make mashup/bootlegs before i even knew what a bootleg or mashup was, used to make them in Sony Vegas 5 by taking an acapella & an instrumental and banging them together.

The Smiths – “There Is A Light That Never Goes Out”

”I never ever want to go home, because i havent got one anymore.” Used to relate to this proper. I’m so glad i met my girlfriend man. What a fucking women. I’d die for her

High Contrast – “If We Ever”

This was the first Drum & Bass Song i ever heard, its still as beautiful today, I listen to it whenever I feel sad
