Cassie, Traumer, Marsolo: hot-shot producer Omar+ shares the tracks that inspired his eclectic debut EP, “Open Your Eyes”.
With new debut EP “Open Your Eyes”, DJ, producer and vocalist Omar+ is bringing anthemic and club-ready sonic bliss. The quickly rising talent is having a huge year; set for a festival debut at London’s Junction 2 and with a new Rinse FM monthly residence, he is well on his way to being a major player in the electronic scene.
The three-pronged project is house-centric, with hard-hitting and celebratory sound palettes offering up infectious energy and technical craftsmanship. To dig deeper, Wonderland posed the question: what’s been On Repeat?

Shonky – “Coco Feel & Love Shonk”
Ah it’s just the way he uses percussion in this song to give it such a groove. I haven’t heard that in a lot of other house tracks. I was trying to emulate a lot of that in my own EP, “Open Your Eyes”, so it was definitely a big inspiration while I was working on it.
Cassie – “Me & You”
Before I decided to work on my own ‘Me & You’ remix, the original ‘Me & You’ by Cassie is such an inspiration as well. It’s just such a good RnB record, and a song I’ve loved for so long, so being able to flip it myself is sick.
Traumer – “District”
This one is such a vibe, plain and simple. It puts me in a real flow-state because when I listen to it. Really nice tune.
Aril Brikha – “Groove la ‘Chord”
This is my favourite house track ever, and a massive inspiration behind a lot of my production in general. I always find myself coming back to it.
Marsolo – “Break A Sweat”
Marsolo…he’s so good! His production is so forward-thinking, and whenever I listen to his music, he just inspires me to take it further with my own production. I feel like he’s always pushing the boundaries of what’s possible.
Job de Jong – “Dub House (Kepler Remix)”
This one is such a good organ house track. I’ve wanted to make an organ house track for so long, and “Not Chasing Highs” on my new EP was that track. I feel like organ house tracks are such a staple, and Kepler’s “Dub House” Remix is probably the best example of how good they can sound.
Holloway – “Couldn’t Leave”
More of a speed garage track this one, but it’s definitely been an inspiration because I’ve always wanted to work with a female vocal over some drums, like Holloway has on ‘Couldn’t Leave’. It’s simple but effective, and he does it really well.
DJ Rolando – “Knights Of The Jaguar”
Such a euphoric tune. I love having a sense of euphoria in my music as well, so this one is a big inspiration in that department.
Shonky – “Chocotox”
I was over in Miami earlier in the year for Miami Music Week and hearing this there, it just put me in such a beautiful place. I just felt so creative listening to it in Miami, everything about it felt special. It was such an inspirational trip.
