Wonderland get a sneak peek at QASIMI’s AW16 collection ahead of LC:M tomorrow and grab a minute with the man behind the brand.

Tell us a bit about yourself?

I was born in the UAE and came over to the Uk at the age of 9 on an art scholarship. I studied at the architectural association and at Central Saint Martins. I worked in the architecture field before getting into fashion.

What was your starting point for the collection?

The starting point for this collection was looking at the ferocity of nature and the violence of the sea. I then came across images of Yousef Nabil a photographer that shot the Yemeni fisherman community in the South Shields. I was inspired by the idea of hybrids and the mix of cultures. This is translated in the mix of outerwear and prints.

What’s your favourite detail this season?

The triple pleated sailor trouser and the multiple yarn mix fabric that we developed in the UK.

How do you get inspired? What keeps you going through the intense process of creating a collection?

Socio political issues. Architecture, art and photography.

Which tracks were on repeat when you were creating the collection?

Anouar Brahim -astrakhan cafe.

Protective. Relaxed. Contemporary.
