Qasimi have teamed up with iconic American sportswear brand New Era for an exciting capsule.
After dazzling us with a captivating collection dedicated to the nomads of the world in July, the first with QASIMI’s new creative director Hoor Al-Qasimi taking helm at the brand, the Middle East-hailed fashion house are back on our radar after rustling up a surprise collab with iconic American hat giants New Era, you know, the brains behind the incredibly 00s New York Yankees caps.
In fact, those caps were the first thing given a Qasimi makeover, baring the brand’s signature rising sun symbol, taken from the city of Sharjah. This was a conscious choice of course, aiming to put the brand’s roots at the forefront of the collaboration whilst also commemorating the untimely passing of it’s founder – Khalid Al-Qasimi.
As always, the collection has been designed for the nomads of the world, those enigmatic spirits that will forever roam far and ride. Here they’re given bucket hats with a curious tortoiseshell print, another emulating the empty skyscraper windows of a lonely city.
Battle seems to be the choice word for this collaboration, whether it be nature vs. city, craft vs. technology or environment vs. architecture. The result is something deeply moving, a combination of tradition and modernity that resonates with both young and old.
Of course, it’s not just a collection of stunning caps, that would be too easy! The two have also created t-shirts, vinyl overcoats, utility jackets and loungewear, all baring the tortoiseshell’s lavish golden hues. If anything were to have us chasing the sun, our bets would be on this collection.
