Offering up a palette of beige, indigo, black and white to accentuate Acne’s chosen domineering colours of hot pink and saucy red, the Resort 16 collection a testament to soft, frayed linens and silks in a context of modern shapes. Stand out looks include the slitted wrap dress of beige and white stripes contrasted with a pink colour block, blue striped shirts paired with blue denim and the simply red leather coat. Cubist coloured patchworks meet halfway with the constant stripe motifs that run throughout, and contrasting fabrics of linen and organza silk reiterate the modernist melange. Each look, a statement of individuality is not without a statement of shaped colour, meanwhile chokers, white pumps and frayed pointed heels prove that Acne want to deliver something a little different for Resort 16 collection, something with an edge.

From 16 October Acne Studios is going to get real intimate. They’re launching an underwear collection. As a house that has served multidisciplinary realness since it first expanded from denim, you can’t be too surprised.

Made from the finest Pima cotton and featuring signature detailing, the collection offers four styles for men and two for women. While creative director Jonny Johansson believes underwear should be skin coloured – personally he prefers no underwear – the colours range from sand, putty and military green to black and white.

Like they haven’t been kind enough to us, Acne Studios are also presenting six short films featuring different protagonists soundtracked by an incidental telephone message. Of course, each is wearing an item from the new underwear collection.

The Brief

“I find youth’s relation to luxury striking and wanted to explore it. We brought what we discovered back to the Acne Studios universe and created an entire wardrobe for the social calendar – business, parties, travelling and leisure including swimwear. The colour palette is classic with acid accents. Fabrics include organza silk, satin, terrycloth and different treatments of leather,” says Jonny Johanson, Creative Director at Acne.

The collection

This season Acne Studios transported us to a lavish world of high-octane glamour, flirty and fun whilst serious and sophisticated in equal measure. Detail came in the shape of humorous lipstick tube and fruit and veg prints brandished on silks, whilst suit jackets came morphed into dresses and long-line waistcoats were worn upon bare chests, teamed with caramel slacks. Sheer flesh baring fabrics were also in favour, whilst a short teal terrycloth towel dress closed the show, surely a nod to youth’s growing obsession with luxury.

Where to wear it

The towel dress complete with gold chain choker, to the spa in Monte Carlo of course; the low-cut blazer dress, to the office, surely; and the sheer emerald trouser and elongated hood dress duo, for travel days on one’s private jet.

Acne Studios have released their latest campaign images for Spring/Summer 2014 featuring model Zlata Mangafic. The brand have continued their collaboration with photographer Viviane Sassen, exploring the intersection between art and fashion. The eye-catching images are all highly contrast with whites and primary colours.
