The 10-track project is undoubtedly Eilish and her brother and lifelong producer Finneas’ biggest offering to date. A full plate of hits, it’s the smoothest of journeys between Eilish’s classic seductive and soft tones, mixed with clubby beats and intoxicating lyricism, all with the top-notch production that sets the siblings apart in the pop landscape.

In Hit Me Soft and Hard, Billie is tired of talking about fame or finding her footing in stardom. She wants to talk about love, pleasure, mental health, body dysmorphia, and the queerness of everything in between. The album feels like a journey, introducing long and heterogenic tracks halfway through the experience — with drastic changes in mood and tempo that feel like a gateway to her creative process.

While the entire internet eagerly awaited Billie’s release of her third studio album, it feels like we knew very little, or nothing at all, about the tracks until today — unless you were lucky enough to attend her surprise Coachella performance last month, of course.
