Kali Uchis – “Muevélo”
Colombian-American singer-songwriter Kali Uchis is wrapping up another stellar year with a surprise release: “Muvélo”. Recorded during her Orquídeas era, one where a leaked demo sent fans (and further) spiralling across much of Latin America, “Muvélo” is a bouncy bop that her silky tone layers seamlessly over. You’ll be shimmying, sashaying, and hip-shaking into 2026 with this one.
Saint Jude – “Desire Lines”
What lies on “Desire Lines”? South London vocalist-producer Saint Jude unpacks this on his new single. Written in 30 minutes before a long period of tinkering, “Desire Lines” unravels as a post-breakup stream of consciousness, informed by an extract lifted from John Berger’s 1972 novel G. “Something about human potential and the world as a changeable, malleable thing. Nothing is set in stone,” says Jude of the track. What ensues is his luscious vocals, intimate yet distant, over a grounded melody and punching lyrics.
Blaqbonez ft. LeoStayTrill – “Mary Mary”
From the studio to the arcade and down to the car park, Nigerian artist Blaqbonez releases the music video for his buzzing track “Mary Mary”, alongside London-based rapper LeoStayTrill. It’s a fast-paced visual that marries afrobeats and that London grime-edge soundly.
Alice Costelloe – “Anywhere Else”
The first track written for her forthcoming album, singer Alice Costelloe finally shares “Anywhere Else”. A peaceful mix between a twinkle and a yodel, the song became a starting blueprint for the album, with its lilting melodies and brooding atmospherics. It leans into the instinctual and intentional, carefully treading and tracing the tension between the often comfortable pull of obligation and the incessant need to flee.
Mary Ann Alexander – “Student of Love”
Mary Ann Alexander, an exciting R&B up-and-comer from Kerala, India, is back this Friday, releasing the music video to her popular track “Student of Love”. The dimly-lit visualiser is soft and sensual, while spotlighting an ethereal Cupid-like figure. Caressed cheeks, whispered lyrics, gripped hands, rich riffs – this one’s for the lovers and the yearners.
Maddie Ashman – “Seraphim”
British avant-pop artist Maddie Ashman returns in her most angelic form yet with “Seraphim”, the new single from her upcoming EP. Floaty and fluttery, her voice is as enchanting as it is haunting, bordering on both hymn and lullaby. This fairytale-like tribute to the society’s buried outcasts laying in graves over hundreds of years in Southwark’s Cross Bones Graveyard, wrapped up in a track that builds through piano and cello loops into a wrenching, swirling crescendo.
