Bridging past and present, Infiniment Coty Paris revives an icon from its archives with the reissue of Ambre Antique, a 120-year-old fragrance whose olfactive trail remains timeless.
In a world obsessed with TikTok-driven trends, algorithm friendly launches, and the next new thing, reviving a 120-year-old fragrance might seem daring. Yet Coty is betting on their own archives. With Ambre Antique, a scent first created in 1905, Infiniment Coty Paris co-founders Sue Nabi and Nicolas Vu are not chasing online attention, but mining the house’s history to offer something modern consumers can’t scroll past. An authentic, singular scent.
The fragrance, now part of Infiniment Coty Paris, blends heritage and innovation, a collector’s item limited to 1,905 units. Coty’s in-house chemists became olfactory archaeologists, reconstructing the legendary Ambreine S base and sourcing natural absolutes to match the original’s textured vanilla, amber, bergamot, rose, jasmine, and orange blossom. The result is both nostalgic and contemporary: a warm, layered amber that feels intimate and enduring.
″In 1905, Ambre Antique marked a revolution in the history of perfumery,” Nabi says. “INFINIMENT COTY PARIS now pays tribute to this heritage by bringing this icon back to life. Faithfully recreating the olfactory signature of Ambre Antique was a real challenge, achieved thanks to the unique expertise and fragrance know-how within Coty.″
The launch is also a statement against the “polished sameness” of the current fragrance market. Younger consumers, fatigued by dupes and disposable launches, are drawn to unique scents with history, personality, and memory. Ambre Antique evokes times and experiences its wearers never lived: a grandmother’s vanity, a Parisian apothecary or the smell of amber-laden elegance.
