PREMIERE: TEZ – “SOMETHING MORE”

The indie daydream just released a new atmospheric single, and it pulled us straight into a trance.

To call Owen Mellett, known as Tez, an indie artist would be an oversimplification. He plays multiple instruments, has qualifications in music technology, produces, and crosses past genres from ambient jazz to bedroom pop. After refining his sound in his bedroom studio in Sandwich, Kent, he is ready to present it to the world.

His dreamy new single “Something More” contemplates the struggle of getting in your own way. “This track is about the journey of losing yourself in your own pressures to do more, create more, and improve,” he explains. “[It was] written after a moment of realisation, that much of what I wanted to achieve, had already been done – I just didn’t allow myself to reflect on it.”

Sonically, “Something More” features smooth, intricate instrumentals and production to accompany Tez’s soothing voice. Part spoken word poem, part soft rock anthem, “Something More” pulls us into a trance. As it builds to the bridge, arguably the greatest part of the song, we hold onto every word Tez says, before exhaling with him back into the calming daydream.

We can’t wait for more from Tez.
