PREMIERE: EMILY JACKSON – PHASES

The nascent indie talent offers up a searing emotional portrait with her latest EP release.

Revered for her spine-tingling musical chops, artist Emily Jackson is making waves with her sophomore EP Phases. Crafted up under the looming lockdown, Jackson joined forces with producer Erin Tonkon to infuse the indie-scape with some much needed subversiveness and flair. Marking a departure from her early indie pop sound, Jackson’s newfound prowess takes flight.

The artist’s stellar songwriting is laid out for all to see on this project. Take “Wolf Moon”, which uses illusory imagery to go straight to the heart – with lyrics like “Did the full moon expose you?
Or did you always know/ I’d be back to get the truth someday?”. A multi-hyphenate talent, “Wolf Moon” along with the titular “Phases” are also entirely produced by her. The project brims with layered guitars, which are punctuated by basslines, along with live percussion. Wielding the sound of ‘90s grunge to propel herself into the future – Jackson stands out from the rest.

With an EP tour on the horizon this year, the nascent star embarks on a journey to impart audiences with her stunningly intimate sound. Dreaming up her debut full-length album in the meantime, we’re keen to see how this year unfolds for Jackson.
