Sacré bleu! The Netflix gods have listened and blessed us with another season of outrageous outfits and smouldering chefs and we couldn’t be more excited. Set to return to our screens on the 21st December, the new trailer shows Emily Cooper strutting her way back into our hearts with clashing prints and All-American charm. Here is everything we know so far…

She’s back! And she’s got bangs!

Ah, our old friend Emily, back with a new ‘do! And what better way to signal your perfectly stable mental state than with the classic ‘I’m having a crisis’ haircut? While the fringe doesn’t work for everyone, our girl certianly has the bone structure to pull it off and hey, if you’re stuck in a love triangle with your best friend’s boyfriend and the only British banker in Paris, who are we to judge?

The gang is back together!

Love them or hate them, the whole cohort of Cooper’s closest guys and girls are back in town to cause havoc for another season. Whether they’re enjoying a spontaneous trip to St Tropez or plotting an impractical PR stunt, Mindy, Gabriel, Camille, Luc, Julian and Sylvie are back to tackle the cobblestones once more. We predict pining looks, lingering gazes and broken French aplenty.

Adding to the mix, British-French newcomer Paul Forman is sure to steal our hearts as Nicolas de Leon, descibed as “the crown prince of his family’s powerful conglomerate”, we say go for it Em…

Back to business…

Anyone who tells you they watch Emily in Paris for the plot is lying but that said, let’s take a quick recap. Last season saw Madeline and Sylvie come to blows over the future of Savoir and obviously, we’re on Sylvie’s side because she’s a) French b) chic. At the end of season two, it was heavily implied that Emily left her American company to work at Sylvie’s new marketing firm. A rogue decision, no doubt, but Emily being a hot mess is precisely why we love her.

And what’s this? Trouble in the garret! In a thoroughly modern move, Gabriel and Camille have decided to set aside their differences (lest we forget the infamous omelette pan of season three) and shack up together, as Emily’s neighbours. While we’re all for saving on rental costs we can’t help but feel for Emily – nobody wants to run into their ex as they grab le Amazon package after one too many steak frites…

Emily in Paris Alfie

Alfie is a romantic after all

Revealing at the end of season two that he stayed in Paris to spend more time with ‘Coopa, everyone’s favourite cheeky chappy had set his compass back to Britain. Whether he stays put, who can say? Somehow we can’t imagine Emily hopping on the Eurostar to Kings Cross every week and besides, who can resist the pull of an Irish bar on The Seine? Either way, we predict he’ll spend the next season complaining about Paris and longing for a pint with the fellas but hey, you can take the boy out of London…

Emily is at a crossroads

I mean… When has the girl ever been decisive? But a focal point of the trailer is this inertia – this inability to choose one path and stick to it. Throughout the trailer it’s clear that Emily feels as if she’s straddling two worlds. Work, or life? Gabriel, or Alfie? During her weekly French class, we see Emily translate a phrase from the board as “Not choosing is still choosing.” Perplexed, her teacher explains that “even not choosing has consequences, so it’s still a choice.” Chew on that for a bit, Em.

Patricia Field’s power grows with every season

As someone who made a name for herself dressing Carrie Bradshaw in tulle skirts and spaghetti straps, we were expecting a lot from the design mastermind who has dominated so many Pinterest boards throughout the years. With rumours of the wild costume budget, it’s not hard to see where Patricia puts it and hey, if we could pull a full outfit change siz times a day we would but how would we ever fit it all in our tote bag? Would we wear any of Emily’s outfit? Never! Does it matter? Absolutely not!The key thing to remember is that subtlety isn’t chic and Parisians love power dressing and novelty phone cases. Bravo Emily!
