Ewan J Phillips has gone from strength to strength since his first release in 2018. Debut album Born Survivor made last year one to remember for the artist, elevating not only Ewan’s creative possibilities but audience too. Since then, a deep exploration into lyricism has determined the next chapter of his musical journey as he prepares himself for the release of his sophomore album. In the meantime, his new track “I’m Yours” marks the next phase of his journey, and incidentally arrives prior to his wedding with collaborator and fellow pop powerhouse Freya Ridings.

The track comes to life with Phillips’ euphonious voice, characterised by its rich and textured tone that echoes as he croons gorgeous lyrics like: “I’m yours, like the water finds the ocean, like a morning glowing golden”. A stripped-back piano ballad, “I’m Yours” is a track where vulnerability is a virtue. The cadence of the dance emulates love’s ability to evoke emotion, whilst the lyrics depict a moment in time that remains introspective and honest throughout. As far as love songs go, it would be no surprise if “I’m Yours” doesn’t become synonymous with first dance songs for years to come.
