The wonders of cinema are endless, and indie artist Tommy Newport is well aware of this. Dropping his new cut, “Calabasas”, the artist has looked to the illusive world situated in the heart of L.A. to inform what is easily described as a stellar body of work. A song that is set aglow by the same glitzy energy that supercharges the wonderful world of Hollywood, the tune’s ripples of indie instrumentation and Newport’s commanding vocal delivery make for a compelling listen.

“‘Calabasas’, for me, is a Western, Bond and Tarantino cinematic-inspired record,” explains the artist. “I wanted to create the soundtrack of that classic lead character in a thriller. The lyrics portray a protagonist who feels the world is waiting for them but they haven’t got the time or patience to be waited on, and fears the realities of finally meeting their wishes.”

And, as much as the track’s theme may have been inspired by Hollywood’s classics, this core inspiration flows effortlessly into its music video. An ode to the Hidden Hills, the artist takes to the sandy and unforgiving desert to deliver a performance worthy of a stint on the big screen.
