With the year of the Tiger honing symbols of strength, bravery and the exorcism of evil, it follows suit that 2022 will hold a lot more promise and luck than its predecessor. Not only is this a cause for mass celebration, but it is also a time to embrace the Chinese zodiac, and one designer going above and beyond to do that is Miu Miu. Announcing a brand new collection, the French fashion house have looked to the heroic tiger-figures of global cultures, bringing them to life to be worn and adored.
From shrunken baby tees to oversized dropped sleeves and baggy sweats, the modest selection has ample options of your favourite silhouettes. The harder choice, it would seem, is instead deciding which big cat to have printed on your piece. With every character offering their own energy – from bouncy and sweet to heroic and powerful – the label encourages their consumers to recognise their own inner tiger spirit, and dress accordingly.
The superhero-esque figure, Tiger Mask, first imagined from a manga comic book written by Ikki Kajiwara in the late 1960’s, is the very embodiment of strength — posing as a kind-natured wrestler. Arguably more formidable is our personal favourite, Tiger Girl. With a knack for crime-fighting, the blonde powerhouse captured our hearts with her fiery spirit and a matching tiger print corset for added edge. Other featuring figures include our childhood best friend, Tigger. Coined by Disney in the tales of Winnie the Pooh, Tigger was for many the first demonstration of impenetrable optimism. Also the work of Disney, Tillie Tiger makes a comeback from 1936, a sugar-sweet character sporting a baby blue bow and petticoat. Not to worry, though, it appears Tillie has a dark side, as her printed t-shirt is also available in black.
The collection will be available from mid January, and can be purchased from selected Miu Miu stores and online. Discover more at miumiu.com…
