When Kanye West took to Instagram earlier today with a post of a very formal looking document featuring signatures from the CFO of Gap, the CEO of Balenciaga and Ye himself, I can’t lie, our first thought was, “Is this a collaboration of a lawsuit?” To my relief, and now pure joy, it turns out that the post was the beginning of what is set to be one of the biggest collaborations of 2022: Yeezy Gap Engineered.

With accessibility and easy access at the forefront of the idea, it becomes clear that Kanye’s affinity for wearable utilitarian dress, something displayed in his irresistible YZY Gap bubble puffer jackets, is set to clash with Balenciaga’s forever-cool sensibilities as if kismet, later this year. With Balenciaga’s Demna on board for the upcoming project and it set for global release this year, one thing has become abundantly clear, the world of collaborative fashion just got a whole lot more exciting.
