Hell hath no fury like a disco queen scorned. Los Angeles native Ari Dayan turns betrayal and deceit into an irresistible late-night pop jam with her latest single “Good Reason”. A seductive banger capturing the intensity of heartbreak and anger and somehow makes it feel really good.
A magnetic and cathartic performance from Dayan as she seeks accountability for love’s failures—her trademark wry, ironic tone coupled with melodies so sticky they’ll unpack a toothbrush and live rent-free in your mind. The sleek, glacial, and tactile pop production with jagged lyrical barbs meets sensual finger snaps and bubbling synths, provided by producers Brandon Bost and Koko, hook you in.
“I don’t love this about myself, but I can be really insecure in love. Unfortunately, my suspicions came to fruition in this instance. What can you do? Laugh at the dragon, write a song, dance through the ache.” Dayan says of discovering “Good Reason’s” muse rendezvousing with someone else, inspiring the lyrics of the track.
With a background in ballroom dance, it was natural for Dayan to express the song’s intensity through movement. Shot and directed by her brother, David-Simon Dayan the video sees the singer and co-star actor Ben Aldridge (Fleabag, Pennyworth) playfully sparring in an intoxicating, disco-inspired scene. Their chemistry is immediate, and like the song, loaded with humor, lust, and camp. Just like that, ARI serves us what we didn’t know we needed, and no doubt she’ll be delivering us more hit dance tracks to groove, laugh and release to.
