But for emerging independent artist Leah Kate, she’s proving she can do it all on her own, and she’s embodying this go-getter attitude in her music with her latest single “Boyfriend”. Following on from her previous banger “FUTF”, the singer pours out her IDGAF attitude into her single, with hair-flicking lyricism and boss bitch sensibilities. Brimming with retro electro-pop melodies and 80s elements, Leah provides the girls (and guys) with an empowering anthem, telling them not to recycle their exes and leave the past in the past.

With her latest single differing slightly from her last, the rising star is proving her range as she effortlessly taps into both guitar-lead ballads and thumping pop productions. Whatever genre it may be, the singer continues to display her raw lyricism, carrying the same theme of empowerment and honesty throughout. “No matter what kind of song I’m releasing, whether it’s a disco dance-pop song or just me on guitar, the lyrics have to matter and be very truthful to my life,” revealed Leah.
