We’ve all got that ex whose name has been uttered in the same breath as “Jekyll and Hyde”. In the early stages of romance, it can be hard to peel back the layers to reveal someone’s true dimensions; and often when we do, it can prove to be disappointing, or even somewhat disturbing. One artist exploring this exact phenomenon is London-based multi-instrumentalist and singer-songwriter Scott Quinn with his aptly-named new track “NIGHTMARE”.

Opening with his honeyed vocals, the track crackles with bubbling synths, subtle touches of R&B and an addictive pop refrain, with “NIGHTMARE” marking the first single to be released from Quinn’s 2021 debut EP “BETTER FOR ME”.

“This song is an amalgamation of times where you think you know someone, only to be quite suddenly proven very wrong,” explains Quinn. “The subtle changes in a person’s personality or energy and how those small changes can have a devastating effect. Your worst nightmare.”

Fresh from stints of writing for K-Pop megastars BTS and Swedish pop singer Zara Larsson, expect big things from Quinn next year.
