It may be Wednesday, but we are definitely getting the weekend vibes with Butterfly Ali’s new groove-filled single “Pray For ‘Em”. Channelling more of a classic funk sound with soul-enriched choruses, the singer offers us a genre-bending single that is giving us Anderson .Paak vibes and we’re here for it. While the single continues Ali’s fresh and fun aesthetic, “Pray For ‘Em” tells the story unity, love and black empowerment across a backdrop of contemporary soul and funk melodies.

Speaking about the single, the rising singer said, “Pray For ‘Em came about from the racial climate we have always been in and have recently seen a heavy resurgence of. I couldn’t quite figure out the right way to speak my thoughts on the topic, so I put my thoughts into this song. The song is truly just my inner voice and internal monologue seeing all that is going on around me, experiencing it, and also having faith and hope for progression. Loved being able to couple such a heavy message with a fantastic producer and musician Sam Barsh. He really understands strong storytelling through instrumentation, while honouring my soul/funk stylings. Coupling our worlds really brought a relatability sonically to the song.”

Having already made a name for himself in the acting world with roles in hit shows Pretty Little Liars, Glee and The Rookie, the star is making sure he’s covering all avenues of entertainment and we suggest to keep a close eye on the singer in future months.
