Making their long-awaited return to music is alternative-pop duo Castles. After running into legal trouble with artist Cheliji back in 2019, the duo are back with dream-pop tune “The Best of Me”. Drawing on inspiration from Mura Masa and Iann Dior, the duo explore distorted vocals and fluttering synths over a backdrop of nostalgic guitar strings and heavy bass lines.
Originally meant to feature Cheliji, the duo saw the opportunity to rebuild themselves and refine their music, “It was just this moment of realisation that we could only rely on each other,” Jacob Pryce of Castles said. “Until we have business-minded people on our team we won’t try to score these high profile collabs again.
With their hands firmly back on the steering wheel and the past behind him, Castles are finally releasing music again and we can’t wait to see what else they have in store for 2020.
