A heritage timbered facade. Snugs stacked wall-to-wall with books. Charming rustic bars. Hotel Indigo’s memorable Stratford-upon-Avon bolthole is a dream-like stay in a 500-year-old listed building, no less. Old meets new in the most stunning way possible, with the fully-restored décor maintaining traditional touches with sweeping contemporary features.

Moreover, the hotel have just launched a brand new exciting experience, Clues to the Neighbourhood, offering travellers the opportunity to explore the area in which they are staying in the most organic way possible. Think learning about local collections of items and artefacts, curated in partnership with historians, creative directors and artists. All of which are brought to life through boundary-pushing installations, integrated into the stunning hotel’s design.

The experience allows travellers to explore the surrounding areas of the hotel and secret adventurous paths, local museums, scenic views, music and the best food and drink the town has to offer. Mercury Prize-nominated singer and songwriter Laura Mvula and Berlin-based creative and tastemaker Cloud Zakrocki have spent months working on this project, working closely with Hotel Indigo to curate Clues to the Neighbourhood. The creators have selected these activities based on local heritage with the intention to offer a unique perspective on the area that you are staying in.

Clues to the Neighbourhood is launching in three Hotel Indigo properties around the world: Hotel Indigo Berlin, Hotel Indigo Stratford-upon-Avon, as well as Hotel Indigo Brussels launching later in the year.

For example, learning the history of Stratford-upon-Avon in an innovative way is an easy feat when settling into the 500-year-old building of Hotel Indigo. Forget your bog-standard sight-seeing experience. The clues are an object paired with a card: think a tongue-in-cheek Cleopatra’s wig to tell guests stories of the area’s costume craftsmanship. Consider your curiosity and imagination sparked.
