Emmy Award-winning directors and creators of Game of Thrones, David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, have allegedly signed a nine-figure deal with Netflix, which will see the duo flex their production, direction and writing muscles under the umbrella of the streaming giant.
Having reported three months ago that the pair were being courted by six different studios, each seeking a multi-role deal, Deadline have now broken the news of the pair’s decision, Netflix reportedly beating out the likes of HBO/WarnerMedia, Disney, Comcast, Amazon and Apple.
The deal is said to be a nine-figure one, and will purportedly follow in the template of the other big hitters that Netflix have recently signed, including Shonda Rhimes and Ryan Murphy. The deal for Benioff & Weiss was brokered by Gretchen Rush, their longtime attorney at Hansen Jacobson Teller.
