In the same month they revealed they will host the largest Dior exhibition in the UK, the V&A have now announced that it will be launching another major exhibition. The subject this time? Fantastical fashion photographer, Tim Walker.
Known for his otherworldly images, usually bolstered with whimsical, extravagant sets, Tim Walker’s images are iconic. And now the Knightsbridge-based museum will pay homage to Walker with an immersive exhibition, showcasing everything from installations, films, photo sets, and at the heart of it all – a brand new photo-series influenced by the V&A’s collections.
As well as as a retrospective of the photographer, the exhibition – designed by British art director, Shona Heath – will also look at the immense contributions of his creative collaborators. So the stylists, makeup artists, set designers, models and artists who have all played a part in the creation of Walker’s magical worlds.
The only downside? You’ll have to wait until next year to get your eyes on it.
Tim Walker will run at the V&A between 7 September 2019 – 8 March 2020. Tickets on sale Spring 2019
