BLACKMEANS AT SELFRIDGES

Tokyo based punk brand Blackmeans is a new addition at Selfridges. Sounds incredible, right? Wait until you see the clothes. Selfridges

We’re pretty good at embracing the weird and wonderful here in London. Come to think of it, the streets of Tokyo are probably one of the only other places you’re going to find more wonderfully unconventional looks. Cue: Blackmeans, the Japanese label that is the latest to take over the Designer West concept in Selfridges with their new installation. It’s like designers Yujiro Komatsu, Takatomo Ariga and Masatomo Ariga collectively read our minds. Everything is embellished, with glittering rows of metallic studs and waterfalls of leather tassels, the mixture of textures makes you want to reach out and grab these pieces for yourself, whilst kitsch illustrations printed on sleeves add that customised edge. With Blackmeans launched exclusively at Selfridges this morning, we suggest you get your credit cards at the ready and think about the consequences later. There are 50 limited edition hoodies exclusive to Selfridges available and if you’re after a jacket they come at £2525 a pop. That works out at less than £7 a day for a year, when you think about it logically. And it pays to look that good, right?
