Because how can one lament the warmer days gone by when dripped in leopard print?
There’s something about a Glastonbury leap year that leaves a mark. There’s undoubtedly a dent left in our summer. How are we already getting to mid-September having yet to sport a pair of wellies and a raincoat? The good news is, that’s about to change. Perhaps the only nation that understands water repellence better than the UK is the Nordics. Not only do they get their fair share of grey days, but the biking of it all means they’ve had to master products that work much like a hideout from the storm. But when it comes to mud, and footwear, no one beats the legacy of a British wellie. So, you could imagine that a collaboration between Denmark’s GANNI and the UK’s Hunter is something of a match made in British autumn heaven.
As if the offer wasn’t good enough already, GANNI has lent its whimsical, fun-filled touch to the collection, splashing its signature leopard print across boots – available in both shorter and tall Chelsea styles – as well as rain ponchos and hats. But if you’re not of the maximalist persuasion, worry not: the designs also come in a toned-down leafy green iteration, alongside a sunny yellow raincoat.
To celebrate the collection’s release, collaborators and friends of the brands headed to Soho Farmhouse last week for a special day out, test-driving the pieces. The first rainy day of the year made a very convincing paid actor, obviously, as the boots were put to the test during a round of wellies wanging.
