Set against the breathtaking backdrop of Switzerland’s Lago Maggiore, Ginny Litscher’s debut ready-to-wear collection is nothing short of a mid-summer night’s dream.
Ginny Litscher, wears many hats; artist, interior designer, fashion designer, collaborator. The Swiss based multidisciplinary artist’s work has been print focused since inception and they are often from large, time consuming and intricate paintings which can take up to a year to complete. These prints have adorned homewear, swimsuits (worn by the likes of Lady Gaga and Florence Welch) and most recognisably, the silk scarf, on which Litchener has collaborated with names such as Bvlgari and more recently, Lalique.
In her early days living in London Ginny honed her craft at CSM and later worked for Vivienne Westwood and Alexander McQueen. The brand’s first voyage into ready-to-wear transitioned beautifully, her paintings became prints which merged with sequins and beyond. The collection gave a clear evolution from her well known silk scarves. The pieces make you long for a lake, beach, swimming pool or boat and are not for the faint hearted minimalist, the customer is a glamorous maximalist, unafraid to provoke a second glance. Not safe, not stiff but unapologetically loud.
The fashion show was hosted during a 2 day extravaganza at the Hotel Giardino Ascona, a picturesque train ride from Zurich which left the thick London summer behind and left me awestruck. The hotel lies on the banks of lake Maggiore where I spent my mornings walking, paddling and daydreaming of a summer I’m yet to have. Days were spent lounging at the pool and evenings eating at the hotel, notably the Ecco, where Reto Brändli, the head chef who earned two Michelin stars, twice, now resides. The Summer 2026 collection blended perfectly with the location as the koi pond became a runway and guests were served a preview of the show which Litscher will bring to London Fashion Week come September.
