JEANNEL – “BLUE”

The avant-garde rising star unveils stirring new single alongside equally moving visuals.

Rooted in a signature sound that spans the expansive realms of alternative R&B, avant-pop, trip-hop, neo-classical, and beyond, Berlin-based songwriter and producer Jeannel is steadily rising to prominence. She has graced the illustrious stages of the Red Bull Music Festival and the Reeperbahn Festival NYC Edition, and has performed at numerous prestigious art galleries, museums, and art residencies. With a musical project founded on themes of healing, vulnerability, boldness, and candor, Jeannel now turns her attention to her latest release, “Blue,” a tense yet tender ode to the risks and rewards of love.

“Blue” was self-produced by Jeannel, meticulously co-produced and mixed by the talented oh.no.ty (Belly, Moses Yoofee GTrio), and expertly mastered by four-time Grammy-nominated engineer Zino Mikorey (Hans Zimmer, Metronomy, Fred Again). Featuring carefully-picked cello strings set against Jeannel’s rich, honeyed vocals, “Blue” is an emotionally moving piece that marries lush, intricate musical arrangements with introspective, vulnerable lyrics.

Accompanying the track are stunning visuals directed by Jeannel and Lauren Pringle, which intimately chronicle Jeannel and Kelvin Kilonzo in a captivating performance that blends enigmatic performance art with gentle, evocative storytelling.

Touching on the creative inspiration behind the track, Jeannel divulges “‘Blue’ is an homage to the multitudes of love’s stages, to the blissful and soul crushing faces of love, and a tribute to a love I lost, that really shattered me and brought me to the very edge of my own humanness, my sanity and fragility, but above all showed me my capacity to love. There I find strength in the bitter-sweetness of life, knowing the tremendous courage it takes to love and therefore live fully, and I hope it encourages other people too.”
