OSCAR AND THE WOLF – “ANGEL FACE”

With his latest synth-laden track, the Belgian dark-pop artist looks set to enter a new vulnerable and introspective chapter.

Blending pure pop euphoria with a dark pop sensibility is quite a challenge, but it’s this unique sound that Oscar and the Wolf has masterfully balanced, allowing the Belgian artist to carve out a distinct niche. Oscar and the Wolf, also known as Max Colombie, seamlessly melds pop spectacle with raw, unfiltered emotion in his latest track, “Angel Face”. Set against a synth-heavy backdrop, Colombie’s sincere vocals and evocative lyricism take center stage, highlighting narrative themes of heartbreak and despair.

Colombie shares, “On ‘Angel Face’, I’m going through a breakup, getting lost at the bar. I’m the last man standing because everyone has already gone home, and they turn on the lights.” Max goes on to offer a sneak peek at the track’s visuals, “I am literally stripped of all jewels and beauty, and throughout the video I gradually succumb more to those obstacles until at the end I am completely dirty and soaked. But I remain in this wonderful, surreal environment.”

The release of “Angel Face” unveils a new, vulnerable, and introspective vision for Oscar and the Wolf, a direction the artist seems poised to continue exploring. Colombie explains, “Every chapter is a story about a certain forbidden consumption or a drug. Sometimes beautiful and sweet, sometimes dark and bitter.” He adds, “I used to see myself as a character in scenarios that didn’t really exist. Now, my work is becoming really autobiographical.”
