WELCOME TO THE DARKNESS

Director Simon Emmett’s documentary takes us into the world of British rock band The Darkness.

Flashback to 2003. The camera phone just hit the stores, low rise jeans dominate red carpets, and “I Believe In A Thing Called Love” is consistently blasting on the radio. For many, it’s hard to believe that this was two decades ago. For The Darkness, the British rock band that gave us the chart-topping single and multi-platinum debut album, Permission to Land, before splitting up in 2006, it feels like an eternity.

In a new feature-length documentary about The Darkness, we get an inside look at the band’s comeback tale. With intimate, candid interviews and unseen archive footage from the past six years, Welcome to The Darkness follows Justin Hawkins, Dan Hawkins, Frankie Poullain, and Rufus Taylor as they embark on a journey to recapture the cult band’s former glory.

A tale of friendship, a reflection on fame, and an emotional portrayal of forgiveness, Welcome to The Darkness debuted in cinemas for one night only — and will be available on digital download and Blu-ray from December 4.
