VC Pines, or Violet Coloured Pines, is a singer-songwriter who makes artistic expression look simple. Relaying the strife of his epilepsy into lyricism, the alternative soul riser offers an engrossing and emotional listening experience, a characteristic that has come to a head on his superb debut album, MRI.

Heavily inspired by his lifelong struggles with epilepsy and seizures, the body of work is mature and provoking, as the artist allows us into his mind, body and soul, with the LP proving honest and authentic in its writing and explorative in its production. Featuring previous standout singles like “Running” and “Colours”, MRI is a body of work that feels personal and intimate, a rare feat in the consumeristic industry that we are often plagued by.

Speaking on the new LP, VC Pines offered, “MRI is about my mental health and the journey that my epilepsy has taken me on over the years and takes me on every day. It’s about navigating emotions, seizures, nostalgia and keeping hold of the strings that hold your life together, whilst pursuing creativity and growing up in London. As much as the songs are born from my experiences, I hope you find parts of yourselves in the lyrics, and that the album feels just as much yours as it is mine.

A cerebral and passion-laden collection of cuts, MRI cements the acclaim of VC Pines, leaving us already eager too see the next steps of the singer-songwriter.
