There is something eerily exciting about being in a store after hours. Like opening the door to an empty ballroom of a fancy hotel or peeking into the kitchen of a restaurant, it feels forbidden. Wrong, almost. And utterly thrilling. Tucked in the bustling streets of the Lower East Side, Sandy Liang’s pristine storefront lit up the block. The energy poured out onto the sidewalk, with guests completely distinguishable from the post-work bar-seekers and date night diners. It’s not that the Fall/Winter ‘23 Jewellery Collection launch party had a dress code, but rather that the designer’s brand identity is so strong with a following eager to embody the simplistic yet detailed, feminine, and slightly childlike look themselves. Oversized bows, intricate embellishments, and pearlescent hues were plentiful along the walk from the station to the cocktail event — sparking the realisation that if I could live in Sandy Liang’s world forever, I’d be quite content.
Wonderland.

The new collection of jewellery and hair accessories is a delicate yet bold range, a mastery of the fine line between subtle and extraordinary. The pieces command attention through their playful and striking silhouettes, while at the same time bestowing upon their wearers a dreamy, effortless aire of innocence and girlhood through organic shapes, simple colourways, and nostalgic references. Sweet yet strong, the Sandy Liang girlies are in for a treat, and those who came to the event slipped through one another to get a good look at the range of pearls, ribbons, hair braid bows, strawberry pendants, gold stars, and silver hearts. Arranged on tables and available for sale, the pieces were never left alone for long.
In addition to celebrating the launch of the new jewellery and hair accessory collection, Sandy Liang also debuted a collaborative zine with Daria Ritch. A beautiful and intimate behind-the-scenes look at the Fall ‘23 show, it features images from the week leading up to the event as well as backstage. The zine is exclusively available in store.
