Scottish indie rockers Neon Waltz are back with a revamped sound and a bustling creative gusto. Originally emerging into the UK scene back in the late 10s, the band introduced themselves with an impressive debut album, Strange Hymns, which featured standout hit like “Dreamers” and “Heavy Heartless”. Following a warm reception from fans and critics, the band went quiet for a period of time, before returning earlier this year with dreamy offering “Thoughts / Dreams / Regrets”.
We have now received a follow up single, as well as the news that the band will be returning with another full length body of work, entitled Honey Now, and set for release on 1st September. The second teaser into the forthcoming LP, “A Million People” is an uplifting, encompassing track that illustrates the band’s seamless ability to write an anthem. Driving guitars and bass lead the way in a focused soundscape, drawing the listener in. The vocal performance from lead singer Jordan Shearer is terrific, as he delivers a well-written narrative centred around the uncertainty of the UK lockdown.
Speaking on the single, the band comment, “Written in the height of lockdown one, it’s a song about being absolutely stir crazy. Scared to leave the house, but also the intrusive thoughts that would present themselves when inside. I was going through a massive change in my life at the time and writing this song sort of pulled me out of the hole. It wrote itself and the bones of the song took about two hours to write”.
