PREMIERE: ELINA — “APOLOGIZE”

The 70’s inspired folk-pop artist releases the first single and atmospheric video off of her forthcoming debut album, marking a new chapter of peace and confidence.

IVOR NOVELLO nominated Swedish singer-songwriter Elina has released the first single from her debut album, Whatever Happens Now, which will be out on October 27. The track, “Apologize”, sets the scene for an enchanting project that is bound to allure listeners and capture hearts worldwide — while simultaneously evoking a complete story all on its own. Drawing inspiration from the nature and idyllic environment of her upbringing, she evokes expansive, lush Scandinavian forests through a soundscape of 60’s and 70’s folk-pop.

Lyrically, “Apologize” contemplates personal growth and the magic that comes after letting go of those who are no longer good for you. Raw, delicate, and unapologetic, she brings emotion to the forefront with her soothing, soulful voice — and reminds us never to apologise for not meeting someone else’s expectations of you. Out now with an equally atmospheric video, “Apologize” marks the start of something truly special.

Whatever Happens Now will further explore these themes. In Elina’s words, it is about closing a chapter: “Over the past several years I’ve learned a lot about acceptance and about letting go of resistance. There’s this glimpse of hope and peace to these new songs which I think comes from a lot of positive change within.”
