PREMIERE: TUGALOO — “PEBBLE”

As an acoustic ballad builds into an indie rock anthem, the artist-producer’s newest single questions ideas of goals, hyper-fixation, and self-destruction.

Producer and artist Tugaloo has a sound of his own. Blending folk and country with rock, he creates a captivating indie universe that expands with each new release. His new single, “Pebble”, is a nostalgic yet new sound all at once. Introspective and thought-provoking, it considers the negative sides to obsessive dreams — how hyper-fixation can turn into self-destruction. Sonically, there is a shift part way through the track, blending genres with an arc that mirrors that of the storyline. Slowly and then all at once, the song moves from acoustic guitars to rock beats, taking us on a journey. Utterly intoxicating in the best way, Tugaloo’s vocals will absolutely hook you as he shares his perspective on this indie ballad-anthem blend characteristically his own.

Tugaloo is currently working on his third album, Before I’m Born Again, set for release this fall. “My new album is a concept album all about the emotional experience of change, or more specifically, death as a predecessor to rebirth,” he says. “‘Pebble’ is my way of opening the door and letting everyone into this world I’ve built… Every song on this record has a transformative element — and it just felt like ‘Pebble’ was a perfect sample to introduce the album as a whole”.
