KID FRANCESCOLI – “1986”

The swiftly rising French electro pop talent has returned with a fresh single, with visuals for match.

Kid Francescoli is the moniker of French musician Mathieu Hocine, who is building a legacy with his dazzling and forward thinking approach. After introducing himself back in 2006 with his well received self-tilted debut album, the artist has progressed sonically and characterfully over the years, constructing a diverse and impressive discography, launching himself into the upper echelons of European electronic music. He recently embarked on a huge 200 date solid-out world tour, and has had his music featured on Emily in Paris, as well as ads for the likes of Chanel, Yes Saint Laurent and Xbox.

March saw the producer, singer and multi-instrumentalist return, unveiling the slick single “You Are Everywhere” featuring Turbo Goth, and the artist is now back with another glistening outing. “1986” is a swooning and immersive number that continues to augment the sound of Kid Francescoli. Accompanied by a cinematic visual helmed by Théo Frémont, Hazy synth-led arpeggios and chords lead into a warm if slightly haunting soundscape, with the producer taking us through various layers of sonic movement in the progressive instrumental.

Speaking on the track, Kid Francescoli says, “1986” is a vibrant and dreamy homage to the musician’s first childhood memories. “It’s named after the year when my life truly started, it’s a blend of my very first memories as a human being and my arrival in Marseille,” he wrote. With that in mind, the song mixes the themes of the cartoons of the time with contemporary tonalities, featuring an instrumental-electro format that is now an integral part of Kid Francescoli’s unique style.”
