FAKE A SMILE – “DON’T STOP”

The Bournemouth trio once again show their musical pedigree on their moody, atmospheric new offering.

Rising Bournemouth trio Fake A Smile are marauding their way through the ranks of UK indie. The new kids on the block have already shown their impressive versatility. The band introduced themselves last month with “Prom Dress”, a dreamy indie cut that showcased the potential of the three-piece.

The band have also announced the news that they will be releasing their debut EP, Shoot Me To The Moon in June, a project which they have been working on under the nuanced guidance of Mercury Award winning producer Gianluca Buccellati. Alongside Buccellati, the band have concocted an eclectic and dynamic sonic landscape from them to roam around in; we have now been teased into the darker side of their arsenal with their new single.

“Don’t Stop” sounds like it belongs in a scene from Peaky Blinders; heavy guitar riffs are layered with atmospheric textures and rigid percussion, creating a gritty and consuming palette that is cinematic and immersive. The vocal performance is loose but lucid, gliding lyrically topical in and out of the instrumental hauntingly.

On the single, the band comment, “Don’t Stop” delves into the less breezy and more dark, grittier sound of our record collection. Topically current, the single channels new fangled cross-atlantic inspirations from the likes of early Verve and BRMC to the early aughts scenes of ‘meet me in the bathroom'”.

With a diverse and focused approach, and the talent and image to match, we expect big things to come from these three!
