AVIV — “JIMMY’S HOUSE”

Indie bedroom pop with folk undertones and emotional sincerity, the latest single from the Toronto-based singer-songwriter is pure gold.

Toronto-based pop singer-songwriter AVIV grew up surrounded by music. After years of playing piano and guitar, she began developing her own sound and lyrics during the pandemic. Writing songs in her bedroom, she created her own branch of D.I.Y pop with utterly relatable messages and crisp vocals. Following the success of her first project, DROWNING IN THE CULTURE, and supporting Imagine Dragons on their arena tour, AVIV is back with a glorious new single — “Jimmy’s House”.

Featuring an intricate instrumental backing, with crystal clear acoustic guitars and delicate piano keys, “Jimmy’s House” is intimate folk-pop at its best. Sounds of water splash behind the enigmatic chorus, as AVIV’s raw vocals detail emotional vulnerability and the anxiety that comes from distance. In her own words, it is “a song about worry, particularly anxiety caused by physical distance. We grow so used to that person always being there and when they aren’t, and you’re left alone, you become lost.” Themes of jealousy and disappointment are told with such sincerity and intimacy, evoking deep emotion in anyone who listens. Writing relatable concepts with far reaching sounds, AVIV lets people into her world — and they’re bound to stick around. Produced by famed Canadian producer Robbie Lackritz, “Jimmy’s House” is out now.
