PREMIERE: CARVER COMMODORE – “NEVER SATISFIED”

The indie rock act unveil the latest teaser plucked from their upcoming EP.

Since their emergence, Carver Commodore have been impressing with their glossy but gravitational strand of indie rock that boasts ear worm and magnetic melodies across its sonic elements. It’s been a topsy turvy journey for the band over the past five years, with changes in personnel and doubting the realism of cementing a career in the industry. Nevertheless, the band are back, better than ever, with their second single of the year.

Following on from previous cut “Drown Me In Emotions”, which was a spritely indie pop tune ready to light up any summer festivals, the band have now released “Never Satisfied”, the sophomore single from their forthcoming EP. The latest cut is another anthemic offering that sees the band draw on influences from noughties and more modern indie; power guitar chords, chirpy lead melodies and groove-laden rhythm make up an instrumental backdrop that gives lead singer Payton Pruitt the opportunity to showcase his soaring vocals and nuanced songwriting.

Speaking on the thoughts behind the release, the band comments, “Unsatisfied (obviously), but more specifically, we as a band were feeling like we had been “grinding” and doing all the “right things” for a few years but were watching everyone around us become successful seemingly overnight. And due to comparison, we were robbing ourselves of the potential joy that would come from the successes we did receive. So the song is about comparison on a personal and band level.”

The upcoming EP, If Nothing Happens, is set to be released 15th August, and looks set to elevate the band to new heights. The title, and overawing theme of the EP, revolves around an unspoken question in being an artist – what if you never make it? What if indeed nothing happens? We are excited for them to try and find the unanswerable question.
