As always, they defy the bounds of genres and gain inspiration from a variety of different sounds. In this bilingual single, they take it even further, merging English and Japanese languages, trap and hip-hop sonics, and xylophone notes with steady basslines. After hearing the beat for “Hey Sensei”, Shachi added sultry, powerful vocals to create a comprehensive, infectious tune. While Yellow Claw admits they don’t know what all of the lyrics mean, they still feel them to their core: “We met up with Shachi when we did a show in Tokyo. Airdropped her the beat, and she sent us the vocals a couple of days later. All the Japanese lyrics are really like a painting with words to us. We don’t know what they mean, but they sound so good.”
