STARRY EYES – “OVER OCEANS”

The grunge pop outfit return with the latest single, “Over Oceans”, taken from their forthcoming EP.

The journey of LA-based band STARRY EYES up to this point has been full of twists and turns. Formed by guitarist John Shippey and drummer Matthew Scoggins, the pair developed the sound and approach of the band, as well as a close friendship. Working for years on the debut EP Ciao Bella, the duo eventually discovered singer and writer Kyle Tekiela, and for a short while it looked like a promising future lay ahead for the three. Tragically, Matt passed away, leaving the band devastated and in tatters. Now, almost two years later, STARRY EYES are back, rebirthed and more resolute for success than ever.

We were first introduced to STARRY EYES with their debut single “Jetlag”, released back in February; a dreamy cut that set out the band’s ambitions for heartfelt and anthemic tunes, it engrossed it into their story, with a narrative full of wishful thinking and strong imagery. We have now been treated to a sophomore offering from the promising band in the form of “Over Oceans”, which acts as a darker sister to the debut offering. We delve into distorted guitar lines and spacious production, with Tekiela showcasing a powerful, distinct and diverse vocal presence. It is emotive and engaging, flaunting the bands ability to deliver catchy and thoughtful pop tracks with commercial impact.

Speaking on the new single, Kyle explains, “”Over Oceans” is a heartfelt thank you to my beautiful wife Nicole and my incredible son Lincoln who saved me in a time when I really needed saving.”

The two singles will feature on the bands upcoming self produced EP, Ciao Bella.
