PREMIERE: LEFTY BEEN RICH — “UP”

The Brooklyn-based artist releases his 2000s club infused single ahead of his debut EP.

Growing up as an athlete in New York, Lefty Been Rich has always felt the powerful influence of music — how it can completely transform your mindset and impact your day. Gaining musical inspirations from UK pop, Afro/Dancehall, and hip-hop sounds, he released his first single “2am” in 2021. Now, the Brooklyn-based artist continues to carve out his own sound as a hyperpop-dance-rap fusion artist with his new single and music video, “Up” out today.

Ahead of his debut EP, this single gives us a peek into what we can expect and we are so excited. An ultimate dance song, “Up” meshes Lefty’s 1970’s influences with a nostalgic 2000s club sound and a new, current beat. It embodies the controlled chaos of a fun night out with friends. Atmospheric and bold with high-pitched, smooth vocals and layered tracks, the production is spot-on. Backing vocals will echo in your ears and the beat will sink into your soul as you’re transformed with a full-body experience. If you close your eyes, you’ll swear you’re on the dance floor.

Lefty Been Rich paints a visual portrayal of the song through its music video, further establishing him as a storyteller and artist who is here to stay.
