PREMIERE: DEJA — “ONE”

Her first release of the year reminds us that the London-based powerhouse is a force to be reckoned with.

Born in Birmingham, DEJA grew up around music influences and has worked on her sound since she was young. Inspired by RnB and Soul musicians, she moved to London to pursue her career and has made a profound name for herself. She has shared bills with names such as Stormzy, Etta Bond, and Emeli Sandé, and is set to perform during the festival season this year.

Her new single, “ONE” reminds us that she is a force to be reckoned with. With her typical combination of honest lyricism and afro-infused pop beats, the London-based artist offers a fresh bold sound that will fill your soul. The new single speaks to resilience and the frustration that comes with having confidence in yourself that others cannot see. It’s catchy, commanding, and evocative of that confidence that DEJA sings of.

“Sometimes it feels like the world is against you and sometimes it damn well is,” she says. “‘ONE’ is a reflection of the frustration we all suffer but the grit and the dominatrix attitude we have to adopt to get shit done.”

The music video, directed by Brett Sewell, features intricate camera work and dance routines that exemplify her mission of making her listeners feel “hawt.” Mission accomplished.
