HALIENE – HEAVENLY (DIVINE EDITION)

The songstress has added divinity to her breakout record.

With her newest remixes and unreleased singles, HALIENE once again wraps us in her lush, soothing aura. Embracing music’s history as a poetic expression HAILENE’s debut solo album Heavenly exemplified this understanding from start to finish. Granting us exclusive access to her unprecedented musicality with the Divine Edition the star offers up three unreleased songs titled: “Hollow (w/Elephant)”, “Reach Across The Sky (Ben Gold Remix)” and “Glass Heart (Acoustics)”. Her musical and poetic gifts don’t stop there as the incredible singles see the celestial artist teaming up with the likes of Last Heroes, Craig Connelly, Crankdat, Nifra, Crystal Skies, MaRLo, Nikademis, Awakened, and Markus Schulz.

HALIENE who has the gift to captivate listeners with her powerfully emotionally driven tracks and serene vocals puts this into action once more with the “divine edition”. Speaking on the singles the artist exclaims: My album Heavenly explores the nature of transcendent identity and the power of music to heal and move us. The songs were written to stand on their own, outside the trappings of any one production sound or style. The Divine Edition further captures the spiritual essence of what I set out to do in Heavenly, by expanding the genres in which the songs get to live. I have always seen the remixes of my original songs as new collaborations.

Musical ascendence is not unknown to the songstress as growing up with a Jazz pianist father and visual artist mother, the eclectic star quickly became equipped with the tools of music and rose to fame in the universe of trance and melodic dubstep; toting collaboration with the likes of Armin van Buuren, Illenium, Gareth Emery, Tritonal Excision and Seven Lions. The sky is evidently the limit for Haliene so watch the artist further her ascendence with the “deluxe edition”.

We spoke to HALIENE about the new album and her passion in music…

How did you first find your passion for music?
I’ve been singing for as long as I can remember, my mother used to say I came out singing! My first performance was at the age of 4, and there was never any other path I wanted to take besides music. I became a professional singer at the age of 16. I am the daughter of two creatives (mother a visual artist, father a jazz pianist) so a passion for the arts runs in my DNA.

How would you define the essence of your sound?
My original material exists in the space between melodic bass and trance, as those two genres in dance music are where I found my fans and my home musically. I live in the space of ethereal meets powerful. My songs dive deep into emotions and difficult life concepts and experiences, and I hope the lyrics help my fans to find healing in the tough things we all go through in life.

How do you feel looking back on the process of making Heavenly
Heavenly took several years to come to fruition. Some of these songs were written 3 or 4 years ago when the idea of making an album was just a far-off dream for me. I knew that the special songs meant to be on my debut album would stick with me. The butterfly is a great example of that. Some of the other songs came more recently like Forgive You Anyway and Million Miles. Looking back at the past several years, this album came to me through uncovering what needed to be said, what my listeners needed to say through music, and things that I have been through that could help others. Matt (my husband in life and music) and I worked diligently on the production also for years, defining what the sonic aesthetic would be like. We knew we wanted live strings and acoustic elements, but for it to still exist in the EDM space and to be equally electronic.

Talk us through the decision to release a deluxe version of the album?
These songs were written to stand on their own, outside the trappings of any one production sound or style. The Divine Edition further captures the spiritual essence of what I set out to do in Heavenly, by expanding the genres in which the songs get to live. I have always seen the remixes of my original songs as new collaborations. As I work with other incredible producers, my songs can have different expressions, highlighting new colours of themselves, allowing my music to live in multiple genres at once. It is truly the words of a song that can unify the space, from trance to dubstep and this deluxe edition is a reflection of that. I’m also excited to include my new single with Elephante, Hollow, a widely requested acoustic version of Glass Heart, and never-before-heard remixes from some legendary producers!

What are you trying to convey throughout the album?
My album Heavenly explores the nature of transcendent identity and the power of music to heal and move us. I dive into emotional and difficult life concepts and experiences that I hope my fans find healing through. Having been through a lot of loss in my life, I am uniquely equipped to write about these subjects and I believe that’s why I was put on this earth. I hope my fans and listeners are able to embrace that they are “Heavenly” through the lyrics of these songs.

What’s next for you?
I’m in the middle of phase two of my debut album tour, and it continues throughout this year! It’s been incredible to sing these songs with my fans on tour at sold-out headlining shows for the first time and see just how far my music has travelled. Up next is my birthday show at Area15 in Las Vegas, Hawaii, San Francisco and a one of a kind show in Los Angeles on June 16th. I also have lots of new music coming out this year, a lot of collabs! Some of them my fans have been waiting for for years, and some they never expected.
