KWENGFACE × SL – “FOR ONE”

The Peckham duo are storming the UK scene, epitomised by their new rip-roaring single.

Zone 2 rapper Kwengface has been lurking in the growing shadow of UK drill for years now, amassing millions of streams and perfecting a meticulous craft that seems to sharpen with every passing release. Gearing up for his forthcoming project, the April due The Memoir, we’ve had a motley array of offerings from Kweng, with the storming “Ben10” and R&Drill-infused “White Lies” showcasing the extent of his artistry and vision. SL is a name well known amongst rap fans; few can obtain such cheek-laden charisma, his laid-back flow and witty wordplay boasting a signature dish that stands out against the busy buffet of the scene.

“For One” is a modern, savvy rap cut that plays into the strengths of both artists whilst also showcasing their adaptability. Atop the silk-laden, energetic instrumental, the rappers flaunt their range of flows, their delectable delivery and their nuanced lyricism, bringing the best out of each other and complement their opposite’s approach. The video is one of the most effortlessly entertaining of the year so far. The action film-inspired visual follows a poker game that takes an expected twist after the lead’s location is comprised.

Speaking on the video, Motun from Lutch Media told Wonderland exclusively: “When we were first introduced to the song, we had instantly thought of going for that scarface/godfather cinematic feel with a modern day twist. As a team, we had put in so much effort into research such as styling, locations, casting, the tone and props just to create this masterpiece. It was definitely not an easy job, but having to witness the visuals come together is the best thing!”
