ADUDA has been cultivating her songwriting talent since she can remember. Embarking on her poetry-writing prowess at the age of 13, ADUDA soon realised the power that words hold. Adopting them as a tool to channel emotions, her multi-instrumental abilities laid the foundation for her music career to take flight. Her latest offering, “Makeup Bag” is a stellar example of her knack for dreaming up tunes.
Searingly sincere, “Makeup Bag” is a feat of pure emotion. Driving bass lines, and pared-back drums lay underneath spine-tingling backing vocals. ADUDA’s valiant vocals propel the song along, while synths bubble underneath the surface. Melding together earnestness with addictive pop sensibilities – we could all take a page from ADUDA’s book.
That said, English isn’t even ADUDA’s first language. It’s Portuguese, yet the artist carries the poeticness of her Romance native tongue. Shedding light on how “Makeup Bag” came to be, ADUDA reflects: “I never really had a social life when I was younger, and found a way to escape my reality by writing whatever came to my mind and keeping it to myself. But on ‘Makeup Bag’, the lyrics and the melody came at the same time in my head, so I turned it into a song instead.”
With this being ADUDA’s first ever release, colour us impressed! There’s no telling where she’ll end up next – but we’re definitely down for the ride.
