Australian singer-songwriter and producer Matt Corby is returning with his first album in five years, which vividly captures the artists’ growth after his life was recently flipped upside down. Set for release on 24th March, Everything’s Fine was born out of a unique, pressure-cooker environment that galvanised his sonically adventurous evolution.
On the day he had planned to start writing his next album, Corby’s entire home was flooded, forcing him and his family to move into Rainbow Valley Studios, where he fought to persevere with his creative pursuits.
The release comes after the launch announcement of Corby’s own independent record label and award-winning collaboration with Budjerah. With a widely revered discography, Corby has been praised for his enhanced production craft. The latest preview of Everything’s Fine arrives with the release of Reelin’, a reflection of the push-and-pull dynamic of long-term romantic relationships. The song is propelled by horns and light percussion, and warmly reflects on the cornerstone of every successful commitment: communication and compromise. As the first single from Everything’s Fine, Reelin’ is softly strung together to depict Corby’s latest settled-down, peaceful phase of life.
Determined to maintain his resilience, Corby reveals “I’m at a really beautiful point in my life. I’m accepting all this stuff: the good and the bad, but particularly the bad. Which is kind of great. It’s a good thing to come to that point. Life isn’t always magical, but the moments that are, well you really value them. I think this record is about that, about managing your actual reality. Sometimes I have those moments when you realise: well I’m still breathing, you still have the gift of life, so everything is fine I guess?”
After having played two sold out headline shows at The O2 Kentish Town Forum, Corby is returning to Europe for a run of very special, more intimate live dates to showcase tracks from the new album in London, Stockholm and Amsterdam.
