Get ready to be inspired by Hong Kong-based singer XTIE, off the back of her highly personal music video for her single “Skin”. The song, which was written, produced, and arranged by XTIE herself, delves into the struggles of living with eczema and the journey towards body positivity. Refelcting on the track, XTIE shared, “This song is a love letter between me and my skin. I wrote it four years ago, but produced it during a time when my eczema was severe. I had to put myself back in that headspace where I struggled to live under my own skin. I never hated my body, but I didn’t love it until now. It’s the most important song for me as a songwriter, producer, artist, and as a person. I want to empower others who feel insecure about their body image.”
The music video for “Skin” will showcase contemporary dance and movement improvisation through a unique “Dance Listening Party” initiative. Choreographer Emily Lu, who also struggles with eczema, has choreographed and will perform the main piece in the video. The powerful choreography explores the challenges of body image disorders, the link between social media and body image, and the connections between physical and mental health.
