Rising-star Riovaz delves inward on his new single “Tantrum (Pace Yourself)” a fluttering dance soundscape that showcases his sharp lyricism. The New Jersey newcomer has made a name for himself with poignant tracks like “you’re a parasite” and “Tell Me Your Fears,”, with “Tantrum (Pace Yourself)” continuing in that vein. Available now via Darkroom/Geffen Records, the two-minute track is kicked off by a thumping beat and sees Riovaz declaring his self-worth: I’m fine, baby, I’m the one who’s stopping me / I love me way too much, girl, I’m my ecstasy.

In a statement about the track, Riovaz said, “Tantrum (Pace Yourself)” is an ode to the discontent I have with hearing all these comparisons people make just because they can’t figure me out. Everything about this track highlights my anger towards people and the anger built up towards my own flaws.” It’s a bold and unfiltered track that’s sure to get people moving.”Tantrum (Pace Yourself)” is just the latest in a string of successful releases for Riovaz, whose 2020 DIY pop earworm “Prom Night” racked up over 117 million Spotify streams and gained traction on TikTok. His other tracks, including “Tell Me All Your Fears,” “you’re a parasite,” “see u there,” and “God Save the Girl,” have collectively accumulated 25 million streams. Riovaz has also proven his live performance chops on the road, supporting glaive’s America Is a Place That Exists tour on seven US dates, including a sold-out show in New York.
