BOKANI TSHIDZU × OZWALD BOATENG POP-UP

Ozwald Boateng and Bokani Tshidzu collaborate with Selfridges to celebrate the festive season with an immersive installation.

Selfridges is thrilled to announce the return of the iconic Ozwald Boateng with a stunning pop-up at the legendary Landmark Luxury Departure store. The pop-up, which runs until the end of January 2023, marks over a decade since Boateng last partnered with Selfridges.

Offering a glimpse into Boateng’s world, the installation blends the Saville Row legend’s love for art and tailoring through a fresh collection and an immersive artistic experience. The pop-up features a collaboration with multi-disciplinary artist Bokani Tshidzu, whose abstract paintings, sculptures, and installations merge a reverence for African heritage with the traditions of western art for a captivating seasonal experience.

Head over to the first-floor Men’s department at Selfridges and be transported into a time capsule that captures the essence of Boateng, through carefully curated objects and experiences. The pop-up offers a unique opportunity to explore Boateng’s world and the themes of art, culture, and heritage that are at the heart of his brand. Boateng’s collection pays tribute to his Ghanaian roots by incorporating Adinkra symbols in the fabric, woven into luxurious silks and suiting. The capsule collection, which is available exclusively at Selfridges, features the “Nsaa” symbol, which in the Akan language signifies authenticity and an appreciation of quality while Bokani’s stained glass paintings draw the viewer into the immersive world by reflecting their distorted image back to them. The collaboration between Boateng and Bokani creates a pan-African salute to the power of African heritage in a cosmopolitan London setting, making for a playful fusion of art, fashion and culture.
