Turning up the heat with “You Know What I Need”, PNAU enlist the help of pop star Troye Sivan to dream up a big, ground-breaking moment. Behind hits like “i’m so tired” and “My My My!”, Sivan’s soaring voice is the perfect ingredient to add to the mix. Traversing between being a YouTuber, starring in high fashion campaigns, runway appearances and a prolific music career – we’re starting to wonder if there’s anything the boy can’t do. With PNAU and Troye Sivan’s combined audience, this new single is on track to reach the top.

In “You Know What I Need”, Troye’s vocal chops are put to work against PNAU’s instantly addictive blend of pop hooks, disco grooves, and sultry synth-pop. Talking about the collaboration, PNAU’s Nick Littlemore says, “Working with Troye again has been amazing! When we wrote this song we had no idea that we would get so lucky to have Troye Sivan singing and bringing his unbridled creativity to the world of PNAU.” With Sivan adding, “I’m so happy this song is coming out just before the Australian summer – it sounds like a beach festival to me and I am stoked to have it out”.

The duo’s ambition is further brought to light by a subversive AI animated music video. With Sivan taking the performing lead, the visuals offer him up as an otherworldly entity – instantly recognisable yet unnervingly post-human – think a space-age, DMT trip. Although the vision for the visuals are undeniably futuristic – the production process started off fairly conventionally. With Sivan simply filming the performance on his phone, he was then cut-out and placed into a world of spellbinding AI. Throughout the process, PNAU offered just one guideline: “Can you make it look more trippy?”

And, trippy it is. With PNAU and Troye Sivan’s combined accolades under their belt, there’s no doubt in our minds that the entire world will lap up the aptly titled “You Know What I Need”.
